Our history

The Milford Fire Department was made up of three companies in the late 1800s. Sawkill hook & ladder, Vandermark hose company, and Delaware hose company. As research continues, we hope to find where the locations for these three companies were. In the 1920s the companies made a great advancement with the purchase of two motor powered Hahns fire trucks. In 1931 all three departments would combine together as the Milford fire department as we know it today. They would continue to operate out the borough building until the mid 1950s taking over the old laundry mat next door, and expanding services by the purchase of a Cadillac ambulance.

Depending on where you lived within Milford, determined which company within the MFD you were apart of.
