FIRE
The Milford Fire Department in the beginning was one of the first departments
started in the Pike County. Once running most of the area, the department now has a smaller area due to the introduction of
newer dept to the area. This has not cut down on calls however, the department is now running more calls in a month then it
did in a year back when it was first established 1860. The current membership is comprised of about 25 to 30 active member
and over 60 including inactive, with the availability to crew an Engine, Rescue, Tanker, Brush Truck and soon a 2nd Engine.
The membership runs any type of emergency that would require some type of specialized fire dept response. Members operate
on any type of emergency from structure fires to vehicle accidents to automatic fires to crowd control for special events.
The department is in direr need of member. due to the fact that there could be days that the department could be running 6
to 12 calls a day (although most day are not like that) Memberships is stretched thin and the fact of the matter is that the
department needs members to join. In 2006 the department including EMS made over 1200 responses 430 of those calls was the
Fire Department This being said if you can Volunteer any amount of
time to our fire department and live in the area of Milford come down and join today.
